Standards
This site targets WCAG 2.2 Level AA as the floor and Level AAA on body and interactive text where the design supports it. The Studio Workbench color palette was calibrated for AAA contrast on every body and link surface.
What this means in practice
- Every interactive element is keyboard-reachable. Focus state: 2px ruby ring, 2px offset, instant.
- A skip-to-content link is the first focusable element on every page.
prefers-reduced-motiondisables all transitions and animations.prefers-color-schemedrives the initial light/dark theme.- Single
<h1>per page, logical heading hierarchy. - Alt text on every image. Screenshots are described factually.
- Square-bullet lists, semantic landmarks, named regions for assistive tech.
Known issues
This is V1, hand-built. Two known limitations:
- The
--fg-subtletoken (#8A8A8A) only meets AA at 14px+. It's used on captions only, not body text, but the contrast ratio against the warmer V2 paper bg sits at ~3.4:1, just above the large-text AA bar. - Screen-reader pass with VoiceOver and NVDA is scheduled before public launch.
